Valley Sport Medicine provides assessment and non-surgical management of a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions involving the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist, and foot and ankle. This includes osteoarthritis, tendinopathies, and both acute and chronic overuse injuries. Referrals for conditions involving the neck or back are not accepted.

Available Treatments and Services

  • Exercise-based rehabilitation plans and education

  • Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections (corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma)

  • Diagnostic investigations, including imaging and bloodwork when indicated

  • Referrals to other specialists when appropriate

  • Prescription medications

  • Veterans Affairs Canada assessments and completion of medical questionnaires

  • Worker’s Compensation Board Enhanced Physician Services assessments


Injections Offered

The following injections are available for a variety of joint, tendon, and soft tissue conditions. Most are performed under ultrasound guidance.

Corticosteroid Injections:

  • Knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and ankle osteoarthritis

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy

  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)

  • Medial and lateral epicondylopathy (tennis and golfer’s elbow)

  • Thumb and finger osteoarthritis (1st CMC, MCP joints)

  • De Quervain’s tenosynovitis

  • Trigger finger

  • Gluteal tendinopathy / greater trochanteric pain syndrome

  • Meralgia paresthetica

  • Big toe osteoarthritis (1st MTP joint)

  • Sinus tarsi syndrome

  • Baker’s cyst aspiration and injection

Hyaluronic Acid Injections (Monovisc, Durolane, Orthovisc):

  • Knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle osteoarthritis

Soft Tissue Adapted Hyaluronic Acid (SportVis):

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy

  • Gluteal tendinopathy / greater trochanteric pain syndrome

  • Lateral epicondylopathy (tennis elbow)

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP):

  • Mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy

  • Gluteal tendinopathy / greater trochanteric pain syndrome

  • Lateral epicondylopathy (tennis elbow)


Fees for Non-Insured Services

While consultations and follow-up appointments are fully covered by MSI the following fees apply to non-insured services:

Ultrasound-Guided Injection Fee

$100 – Includes the ultrasound-guided procedure, injection tray fee, and all necessary supplies.

Non-Ultrasound-Guided Injection Tray and Supplies Fee

$10 – Applies only if the injection is not performed under ultrasound guidance and the medication is not provided by the clinic.

Medication and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Costs

  • Orthovisc (hyaluronic acid for smaller joints) – $200

  • Durolane (hyaluronic acid for larger joints) – $500

  • Monovisc (hyaluronic acid for larger joints) – $500
